Back on my affordable weddings spill… (sorry once again for the lack of posts)
Like I said earlier, Kyndra’s wedding rang in right around $7,500…. And you would have never been able to tell!
A big thing that hits a brides budget pretty hard is venue. Churches, reception halls, etc… they can add up really quick. The one piece of advice I can give brides is try and choose a venue that will allow you to do both the ceremony and reception in the same place!
Some venues have areas or different locations on site where you can hold both the ceremony and the reception. I personally like this because it creates less of a hassle. Most of these venues will look pricy. You need to look at everything that they have to offer. Most will have packages like base cost, food and xyz decor. This will help bring down a lot of costs.
For Kyndra’s venue, we chose a restaurant that had a “reception”hall. Even though she chose to have her events in separate locations, we were able to give and take in some things. The church that she was married was a little pricy (I wont lie) but the venue ended up being a little cheaper.
Choosing two separate location is fine, you just need to be thrifty with how you go about it. In Kyndra’s wedding, we chose to have the location cater. This helped our pricing since we were able to bundle food into the cost of the venue. If you are getting married in a church, ask if they “work” with any local venues. Some venues will give discounts if you get married in a certain place.
I personally want to get married at s family members house. If you are okay with an outside wedding and have a family member or friend with a beautiful house, do not be afraid to use it! This will save tons of money that you can use on a band or whatever splurge item you choose :). As for the reception, tents or old barns make great areas. I will have more on those in a few weeks!
Don’t think that you have to run out and book the Plaza to have a great wedding. There are many choices out there to fit everyone budget!
